Application forms
- Comply with the SNN Code of Practice and should include the following required information: contact name, contact address, contact e-mail address, telephone number, type of application, type of development, location of development, location/layout plan, planning reference number and justification for application.
- Should be available and accessible on Councils website
- Advisable to have a declaration on the application form to say the applicate has the authority to change the property details
Application channels
- Completed application forms can be submitted by various means including online forms, direct e-mail, telephone, post and social media.
Receive and validate application
- Validate applications in line with your authority’s timescales policies. Applications should be validated against all required information, appropriate planning approvals and building regulations.
- Reject application if information is missing
Validate request for renumbering/renaming
- Validate the justification to renumber/rename existing address in accordance with the Code of Practice.
- Advise applicant if there is no valid need to renumber/rename.
Allocate renumber/rename
- Whenever possible allocate a property number rather than a property rename.
- Always renumber on to the street that provides the main pedestrian entrance.
- Allocate a property renumbering in accordance with existing numbering sequence. This should include when necessary the allocation of property numbering suffixes within the existing numbering sequence.
- In complex applications it may be necessary to renumber multiple properties.
- Allocate internal numbering for property conversions.
- Validate suggested rename against SNN Code of Practice (includes duplication, duplication with street names, awkward spelling or pronunciation problems, rude or misleading names, construed as marketing/advertising etc)
- Advise applicant if property rename is rejected and negotiate/suggest appropriate property name that complies with SNN Code of Practice and authority’s policies.
Approved allocation document
- Produce property renumber/rename approved allocation document in accordance with the SNN Code of Practice. Document should include Document Title and date, Applicant, Development name (if applicable), existing property number/name to renumbered/renamed property, plan of renumbered/renamed property (including internal plans for property conversions), effective change date and File/document reference number.
Output channels
- Issue approved allocation document by various means including direct e-mail, telephone, post, social media and online portal.
